Fine Art Black & White Photography

“SEEING” – “seeing” is what I do.  When I am “seeing”, patterns dance across my vision.  In a trance-like state, the world is transformed into patterns; patterns in the purest form of black and white images.

A tree becomes a series of related patterns.  A building becomes patterns of materials working together.

“PATTERNS” -- Nature produces patterns in all her creations: trees, leaves, sand, water, clouds, mountains, canyons, deserts, beaches, reflections, rocks, fog, rain, snow, shadows.

Man, a part of nature, produces patterns in all his creations: machines, structures, fences, stairs, train tracks, weathering buildings, factories.

“PEACE” – The tranquility and solitude of working in the darkroom soothes my soul.  Work done in the darkroom completes the process of the creation of images.

“CREATIVE PROCESS” – When I walk with my camera, I do not anticipate what I will see.  I do not seek images, images find me.

“JOURNEY” – Photography is a journey.  It is a journey in learning;  learning the skills to produce a perfectly rendered image on photographic media.

It is a physical journey in traveling to places to discover these images.  Experiencing the beauty of our surroundings is exhilarating.

It is a mental journey into the deep crevices of the mind.
