Shaped by wind, the dunes of Death Valley offer a wealth of patterns.  On quiet days, the dunes become soft and rounded.  But after a wind storm, the peaks are re-formed into sharp peaks.  Walking up a steep dune, progress is made two steps up and slide back one; two steps up and slide back one.
