Prickly Pear 2007

Prickly Pear 2007

The first time I traveled to Arizona, I was stunned by the sight of local flora.  In my Midwest background, I was familiar with deciduous trees and the murky, humid atmosphere.

In the desert, I was fascinated by the prickly pear and saguaro.  But I was not familiar with the bright clear light.  My attempts to photograph the shapes and forms failed.  I had to learn a new skill - doing photography in the desert.
